Processing of Special Category Data

Some constituency casework requires us to process special category personal data, including information relating to health, ethnicity, religion, trade union membership, political opinions, sex life or sexual orientation.

Where we process special category data, we do so only where necessary and lawful. In addition to the lawful bases under Article 6 UK GDPR, we rely on Article 9(2)(g) UK GDPR and the provisions of Schedule 1 of the Data Protection Act 2018 relating to elected representatives and their work on behalf of constituents.

This enables Members of Parliament to process sensitive personal information where necessary to respond to requests for assistance from constituents and to pursue constituency casework with relevant organisations and public authorities.

Processing of Special Category Data

Constituency Casework

Helping constituents with problems involving government departments, local authorities, public services and other organisations is a core part of a Member of Parliament’s role.

When you ask Markus Campbell-Savours MP to assist with a matter, we will collect and use the information necessary to understand the issue and act on your behalf. This may involve handling sensitive personal information and sharing relevant details with organisations responsible for the matter you have raised. We will only share the information necessary to progress your case.

Verification of Constituency Status

As a Member of Parliament, Markus Campbell-Savours MP primarily represents residents of the Penrith and Solway constituency.
